“You don’t even have the Holy Spirit at your church!” This was said in all sincerity to a member of this church. Why was it said? Because we hold the Biblical and historical teaching of the church until the beginning of the 20th century that the sign and revelatory gifts of the Spirit were foundational. They were signs of the apostles. The successors to the apostles are the epistles. At last there is a complete, sufficient and authoritative word. The gifts of revelation came to an end.
Do we therefore discount the absolute necessity of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit? No! “If anyone does not have the Spirit, he is not one of His.” Tell me. What is the greatest evidence of the Spirit’s work? Is it gifts or graces, powers or purity, miracles of healing or the miracle of holiness? These messages consider this issue.
